Florida to Maine Bike Trip - Day Four I Think! 107 miles

This was exactly the day we needed.  We left Georgetown, SC around 8 am and soon were joined by Andrew, another cyclist from the area, out for his morning work out.  For me this was terrific as I now had two guys from whom to draft!  We left the area after meeting up with Andrew's friends/family.  Photos will be coming hopefully soon.  Pretty area.

Lunch was at a gas station that had a Subway.  OMG - that was heavenly to not have to eat P and J's again.

Like all the other days, so many kind people encouraging us on or stopping to contribute in some way.  Hannah who pulled up behind on the roadside.  Roy Walton, an accountant in Winabow, NC, and sister Tonya, whose office parking lot we stopped at just to refuel, came out and made a generous donation and the best of the best, was Roy's 'garden-hosing down'.  Most of the day had been coolish and overcast - far better conditions than the baking sun yesterday.  But by mid afternoon, the sun was in her glory again, and Roy's garden hose was the perfect andidote.

Marty and I had well-oiled machine working today.  Lots of flat riding, which I do better on than the hills.  He'd get to the top of whatever it was that we were climbing and let up a little so I could catch up and then could draft.  He's a stronger rider than I am, and therefore this worked really well today.  We averaging 16 plus mph a lot of the time, allowing us to arrive in Wilmington, North Carolina around 6 pm.  Our hotel is in the historic area of the city and on the river.  It is beautiful - blocks and blocks of period homes and stunning architecture.  I will return to this spot, too.  The historic influences are compelling.

An MMRF supporter, lawyer and training for a half Iron Man, Andrew McVey was the official MMRF greater.  Andrew was a generous and gracious host - taking us to an Italian restaurant,  Osteria Cicchetti, for dinner.  It was scrumptious.

Marty then went to Massage Envy for a donated massage (my turn is coming!) and he and Bobbie are off doing laundry - I am going to bed. Tomorrow we've riders joining us early in the morning.

Strong, good, good day of riding.
